Derrick received his B.S. From the University of Florida in Mechanical Engineering before matriculating at UC Davis for his M.S. in Biomedical Engineering. Since joining the center, Derrick has worked on investigating more energy efficient methods for dehumidifying indoor farming operations through the use of laboratory testing to characterize new technologies and computer modeling to assess the improvements that could be achieved from this new technology. Derrick has also worked on developing the testing standards for pre-coolers as well as determining the feasibility of using dispatchable pre-coolers in order to reduce the peak demand in arid climates.
