First WCEC Affiliates Forum

February 27, 2008

10 AM to 4 PM

AGENDA

We hope all our affiliates can join us at our first WCEC Affiliates Forum. The meeting has the following goals:

  1. Provide an opportunity for all 22 current WCEC affiliates to meet, learn about others’ activities, and explore partnering opportunities.
  2. Introduce our new WCEC Director, Dr. Mark Modera
  3. Provide an update on WCEC activities beneficial to all affiliates
  4. Present the new WCEC Facility
  5. Discuss how to finish out the Affiliates Display Room
  6. Facilitate feedback from affiliates on needs and opportunities

Early in the forum, we are asking each affiliate to present a five-minute summary of the organization he/she represents. We will have a projector available, so feel free to bring or email ahead a presentation if you like. The schedule allows a one minute transition time between presentations. We will have to stick to a rigorous schedule on these, so we’ll use frantic hand and vocal signals to let speakers know how much time they have left. Hopefully there will be time before or after the event for additional smaller meetings as appropriate. Please let us know if you need any special assistance with the presentation. We hope you will describe in your talk how your organization hopes to benefit from WCEC membership.

The Forum will start with a tour of our new building, and later in the program we will solicit affiliate input on how best to finish our Affiliates Display Room. We envision it as a “semi-permanent trade show” in which each affiliate can continually update the display. We expect an increasing number of tours from a variety of parties (government, industry, NGO, and public) seeking information about technologies and strategies for reducing cooling energy use, costs, and peak demand.

We appreciate our affiliates' support of the Western Cooling Efficiency Center, and look forward to our relationship with themas we continue our growth and impact.

Directions: If you are traveling by air, we recommend flying into Sacramento. We can co-ordinate rides from and to the airport if we know your arrival and departure times. From the airport, proceed south on I-5 toward Sacramento, then west on I-80 to Davis. Take the 2nd Richards Blvd. exit, go back over I-80 on Richards Blvd, and turn left at the third light- Drew Ave. Go north on Drew until you see the 1440 building on your right, then turn right into the parking lot. Proceed down the lot until you see the 1450 building on your right, park, and enter “Suite 100”.
